Gear & equipment

All players are required to come to practice and games with the following Gear & Equipment:

Soccer Ball

Though the coach will provide soccer balls, Rosedale Soccer encourages
each player to bring their own ball to practice. This reinforces the importance
of accountability and responsibility. Having a soccer ball allows players to
practice individually, enhancing their dribbling, passing, and shooting skills,
while also ensuring full participation in drills for quicker skill development.

Soccer Cleats (Outdoor)

Soccer cleats are specialized shoes designed for playing soccer.
They have studs on the sole for traction, are lightweight for speed
and ball control, and feature a low-cut design for ankle mobility.
Unlike other sports cleats, they do not have a front spike,
which helps prevent injuries during play.

Soccer Shoes (Indoor)

Indoor soccer shoes have flat, non-marking rubber soles for grip on
smooth indoor surfaces. They are lightweight, low-profile,
and provide better ball control and agility. Unlike outdoor cleats,
they have no studs, making them ideal for fast-paced indoor play.

Please note:

During the Winter (Indoor) Season, our games are held at the
Northeast Regional Recreation Center (NERRC). Although the indoor fields
are turf and players can wear cleats, NERRC strongly advises that players wear
indoor soccer shoes to help preserve the field.

Shin Guards & Socks

Soccer shin guards are protective equipment worn on the lower legs to shield
players from injuries during tackles and collisions. Made from lightweight, durable
materials, they cover the shin from just below the knee to above the ankle. Many
shin guards feature adjustable straps or sleeves to keep them securely in place.

They come in two main types:

  • Slip-in shin guards, which slide into a sleeve under the socks.
  • Ankle guards, which provide additional protection.

Wearing shin guards is essential for player safety, helping to prevent bruises,
fractures, and other injuries during play.

Please note:

Socks must be worn over the player's shin guards at all times. For safety reasons,
the coach and referee will not allow a player to step onto the field if this requirement
is not followed. Please ensure your player is properly equipped before each practice and game.

Water Bottle/Jug

Bringing water to soccer practice  and games is essential for staying hydrated, preventing
dehydration, and maintaining energy levels. Water helps regulate body temperature,
supports muscle recovery, and ensures players can perform at their best.
Staying properly hydrated reduces the risk of fatigue, dizziness, and cramps during practice.
